Built in 1907, the hotel Alpenruhe Kulm was part of the first wave of hotels established in the Jungfrau region around the turn of the century. Originally a 25-room hotel in the Swiss chalet style, the former owners were proud that they were among the first hotels to provide electric light and central heating.
After being purchased in 1952 by the Prevost family, the hotel benefited from the revival of winter tourism after the Second World War. Under their management, the hotel was refurbished thoroughly in the late seventies. It was Ms Marion Prevost who led the hotel into the new century, with tireless and outstanding dedication. Professionalism and attention to detail were the core values of her 53 years of leadership.

In 2018, a new chapter began. Major renovation work was carried out, taking the existing structure and characteristic elements of the hotel into consideration. The interior design pays tribute to some of Switzerland’s finest furniture makers and graphic designers and is characterized by calm colours and natural materials.
Jana & Andreas Janke have run Hotel Alpenruhe since November 2019. With their team, they work every day to ensure that guests have a good, relaxing and carefree time in a pleasant ambience.

In the morning, we offer a carefully selected breakfast buffet with regional products, homemade jams and bread from our local Wengen bakery, with coffee and egg dishes served at the table.
In the afternoon we invite you to have a drink on our cozy terrace with a beautiful view the mountains.
Our team will be happy to recommend various restaurants on the slopes or in the village for lunch and dinner.
You will never have to go to bed thirsty at Hotel Alpenruhe because our Honesty Bar is available to guests around the clock, offering a selection of Swiss wines, beers and soft drinks.
Fondue Chinoise
On Saturday evenings during the winter months, hotel guests and visitors from the village can enjoy a Fondue Chinoise at Hotel Alpenruhe. Given the popularity of this Swiss favourite, it is advisable to book well in advance. More information

In summer, you can arrange for a barbecue in our garden for your family or a group of friends (minimum 10 people). Please do not hesitate to contact our reception desk for more information.
Parking
Wengen cannot be reached by car or motorbike. There are no roads leading to the village, and all passenger and freight transport is by train.
You can park your car at the Lauterbrunnen covered car park. Depending on season and length of stay, you can prebook a parking space. You will find further parking spaces at the church or at the “Eyelti” public parking further down the valley. Please follow the car park signs.

Getting to the skiing area
The Wengen-Männlichen cable car is a 5-minute walk away from the hotel. You can deposit your ski equipment free of charge at the Central Sport ski depot right next to the cable car station.
Check-in
Your room will be available from 14:30 at the latest. If you arrive earlier, you can leave your luggage with us. If you call us as soon as you board the train to Wengen in Lauterbrunnen, we will be happy to pick you up at the Wengen train station. This service is available until 20:30.
Check-out
The room is available until 11:00 on the day of departure. Later check-out is only possible by prior arrangement. You are welcome to leave your luggage at the hotel. If you inform us well in advance, we will bring your luggage to the train station at the desired time.
Children
Children aged eight and above are welcome at our hotel. The hotel is not suitable for younger children. Our reception team will be happy to assist you in finding an alternative hotel in the village that is more suitable for small children.
Dogs
We allow well-trained dogs at the hotel for an extra charge of 15 CHF per night.
Dogs are not allowed in the dining room and may not be left unattended in the room for more than two hours. We kindly request that you bring your dog’s favorite blanket and accessories for their comfort.
Laundry service
We offer our guests a laundry service. You will find the price list together with a laundry bag in the wardrobe in your room.
Alternatively, there is a small self-service launderette in the village at Hotel Silberhorn.

Cancellation policy
Free cancellation 7 days before arrival.
For cancellations submitted between 3 and 7 days before arrival, 50% of the full price is charged.
